OSHAQ: STEPPE HEARTH

A winter legend of the steppe.

The jut

The killing winter of the steppe has come.

You wake in a frozen yurt. The hearth is dead and snow falls through the shanyrak. Tap the hearth and the fire catches. Its light draws Sheber Apa, an old craftswoman lost in the blizzard.

Inside a yurt, a nomad holds his hands to the hearth fire, a kettle hanging over the flames.

The auyl

From a single spark to a whole people.

Sheber Apa builds snares, a sled and yurts. Gather saxaul, hunt, invite nomads to your auyl and give each a trade: hunter, tanner, curer, miner, smith.

One-thumb play

Just taps and swipes: the whole game fits in one hand.

A world that unfolds

From a single spark to a whole people and the Great Steppe.

Kazakh legend

Ornament and the sound of the dombra, in Kazakh, Russian and English.

The Great Steppe

Saddle up and ride into the steppe.

Dark kurgans, ruined caravanserais, the mines of Ulytau and the old cities of the Silk Road. Fight wolves, the zhalmauyz hag, the dau giant and the albasty. The curse of the jut lies in the Golden Warrior's armour.
